What makes social cybernetics unique nationally and internationally?

Social cybernetics is a relatively new field of science that is gaining popularity in Poland and abroad. It stands out nationally and internationally in several respects.
First, it combines a scientific approach with practice. Researchers and practitioners work together to develop effective psychological interventions intended to improve individuals’ quality of life in their natural environment. Compared with other psychology specialisations, which focus more on the internal mechanisms of the human mind, social cybernetics and behavioural sciences focus on external factors influencing individual behaviour.
Second, it focuses on studying individual behaviour in the context of its social, cultural and historical environment, meaning that research takes place in a broader context than just laboratories or a therapist’s office. This enables researchers and practitioners to develop interventions and programmes that account for social, cultural and historical context.
Third, social cybernetics focuses on research in natural settings. Studies take place in the real conditions of individuals’ lives, rather than only in controlled laboratory environments. This makes them more realistic and gives them greater practical significance. Finally, social cybernetics combines knowledge from various scientific fields, including physics, physiology, systems theory, psychology, sociology, anthropology and philosophy. This enables an interdisciplinary approach to problems relating to human behaviour and its environment.
Together, these elements make social cybernetics distinctive nationally and internationally: it combines a scientific approach with practice, studies individual behaviour in social, cultural and historical context, conducts research in natural settings, and brings together knowledge from different scientific disciplines.
